Nail Art #10 | Adventure Time Nails

Adventure time, come on grab your friends! We'll go to very, different lands! My favourite cartoon since the Powerpuff Girls, I just needed to do some nails on these weird and crazy characters in Adventure Time. I hope I've done the characters some justice. I love Adventure Time so much, the kooky characters and story lines make me so happy. Yes i'm 21, but a lot of adults watch cartoons like Regular Show and Adventure Time because they appeal to a massive audience, not just children. You've just got to watch it to understand why it's so great.

Hope you like them!

Nail Art #9 | Holographic Floral Nails

I've been looking for a holographic nail polish for awhile, and Color Club seemed to be the best holographic polish maker out there. But that was a bit too pricey for me, so I found a cheaper one by Gosh! I did read reviews about this, many said that top coating them would lead to the holographic look disappearing. And I do think this impacted how my nails look, as well as other factors like it being cloudy all day...
I wasn't sure what to paint on my holographic nails so I went with simple flowers. This is a really lovely shade, and it's a shame the photo doesn't do it any justice.

What's in my... August Birchbox!

I may or may not have subscribed to Birchbox for 6 months...which leads me to this post! What's in my August Birchbox? Well... to sum up, a range in the sizes of samples, a cute little bag and a chapter of a book.

Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect : This is a UV shielding, colour protecting, tangle-fixing hair conditioner! I wouldn't say it was the best at stopping tangles from happening. I run my hands through my hair and I can feel the resistance as each strand of hair clings to one another to stop my fingers.

Wild About Beauty Creme Eye Shadow in Matilda: A lovely, slightly metallic brown shade, perfect for building colour or for defining the eyes. It's very blendable, so easy to apply no matter what look you're going for, whether it's a smoky eye or an all-over colour.

Supergoop CC Cream in Light - Medium : Is there hype about this product in the blogosphere? If there is, why? This seems like a standard CC cream to me. It blends well, although red patches are still a bit noticeable. And yes, the self-adjusting does work, although I'm not sure how this will work on those with darker skin tones.

Nude ProGenius Omega Treatment Oil : This oil has a bunch of omegas that don't really mean anything to me, but it promises to transform skin and reduce the signs of ageing.

Liason De Parfum - No Matter What : A really lovely scent at the beginning, and slowly turns into an old-lady smell. It's nice, but I don't think I'd purchase this in the full size.

I think this is a great box for those going on holidays, but for those who aren't away this summer, they're great to put in your handbag for a little touch up.

My essential nail care products

Hello everybody! My nail care routine varies depending on what I want or what I'm doing. This is my general outline to what I use to keep my nails looking healthy for my manicures. My nails have actually started breaking off because I haven't worn any polish in the past week or two to keep them strong and protected. So now i've got short, chipping nails again! Boo.

Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat & Restore - This is honestly the best top coat I've ever used. Unlike other top coats I've tried, it dries my nail polish and, if I'm doing nail art, penetrates the other nail polish layers. This is the most important part for me, I can't spend ages doing nail art to have it ruined my a rubbish top coat! The Seche Vite Restore is the only polish thinner that I found that works with the Seche Vite Top Coat. The top coat can get gloopy and thick, which is where the thinner comes in handy.

Nicole by OPI Nail Strengthener Plus - This works exactly like the cult product, OPI Nail Envy. It dries pretty fast, makes my nails instantly stronger. I tend to use this as a base coat to protect and strengthen my nail, while also enhancing nail growth.

Sally Hansen Nail Growth Serum - I apply this before I go to bed, so I get maximum benefits from it. If I applied this in the morning, I'd probably wash my hands without realising it, 10 minutes later. It is really easy to use, doesn't have a scent and dries really quick. It's a great way to keep nails feeling stronger everyday without the use of polish.

Cuticle Oil - When you're doing a manicure and you're removing polish, pushing your cuticles back and just trying to keep them neat, your cuticles go through a bit of stress. They need some hydration to keep them moisturised.

Nail polish thinner - This is a holy grail for all nail polish hoarders like me. All polishes will eventually go gloopy, but this thinner, or any thinner you can buy, will restore nail polishes back to normal, so you won't be painting thick polish over your nails. It's also handy to use polish thinner for detailed nail art.

Acetone free nail polish remover - This remover is not harsh on nails compared to those with acetone in. Acetone is generally used for acrylic or gel nail removal, so as you can imagine, it's pretty strong stuff. Nail polish remover without acetone doesn't make your nails and hands really dry unlike those with acetone.

Lint free pads - When removing nail polish with cotton wool, strands of cotton can get caught on the edge of nails or dry skin around the nail, which can ruin your next nail polish application if you don't see it!

Nail clippers, cuticle pusher & cuticle knife - To cut the nail shorter; to push cuticles back; to remove any bits of cuticle on the nail.

*Not pictured -Nail file - So essential for smoothing out clipped nails!
