Nail Art #8 | Ice Cream Nails

This week, i've been eating alot of ice cream, mainly straight from the tub. I love a 99p flake from the ice cream vans, but they're not 99p anymore and they're just not as good as they used to be! I remember when there would be strawberry syrup, sprinkles and a chocolate flake. My nails this week are ice cream themed, with sprinkles, a waffle cone and a cherry on top. I will most likely re-create a 99p flake version of this manicure in the future, but for now, lets just enjoy how cute they are.

Products used: for the ice cream: Calvin Klein in French Tip; the sprinkles: Model's Own Ibiza Mix; the cherry: Bourjois Paris 1 Seconde Nail Polish in Shade 14; the waffle cone: Barry M's Mushroom and Model's Own Becca's Brown.

Latest in Beauty: Glamour box

This is by far, my favourite beauty box to order. I love knowing that what I'm getting in my box is going to be the same as everyone else's, apart from the different shades. Latest in Beauty teams up with Glamour magazine every now and then to bring us amazing products to try out.

Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick - Full size
This is a new nude lipstick collection from Illamasqua. I've never owned an Illamasqua lipstick before, having always stuck to MAC. I got the lipstick in shade 'Cherub', which looks a bit like an dark orange shade. I wasn't too sure about it when I first saw the colour, but when I applied it, it looked great! It's really hydrating too.
Magnifibres Brush-On False Lashes - Full size
This product promises to make lashes look longer, but I haven't noticed much difference. First you apply one coat of mascara, and while wet, apply Magnifibres. It's like brushing on cotton fibres and I was so worried I'd get some of it stuck in my contact lens. Then you apply another coat of mascara and you should get longer looking lashes. I definitely need to try this out again.
Rimmel London Sunshimmer Instant Tan BB Skin Perfector - Full size 125ml
I haven't tried this yet as I'm not a huge fan of fake tans. But it promises to even skin tone, moisturise and give an instant tan. I am not a fan of BB creams either! I will give it a try, but probably not any time soon.
Velvotan Tanning Mitt
A tanning mitt to try out with the instant tan to avoid streaks and staining your hands.
Hawaiian Tropic SPF 30 - 100ml
This is a perfect hand bag sized sun cream, just incase the sun decides to pop out when you haven't applied any sun protection.
DHC Deep Cleansing Oil - 30ml
This is supposed to remove dirt and make-up, and I think this sample would be good if you're on holiday or having a weekend away. It did remove some of my make-up, but it felt like I would have to use a lot of the product to remove my entire face from make up. I didn't try to remove my mascara with it in case it somehow ended up in my eye. I am not a huge fan of oil-products, and there is only one oil-based product that I use, which is the Innisfree Blackhead Out Balm.
Toni & Guy Volume Plumping Whip - Full size 90ml
I am soooo happy with this product! It makes my hair feel a bit thicker than usual and does give my hair a bit of oomph. This is such a light product to apply, and I love that it's in a tub rather than a can. It smells so nice too!
Crabtree & Evelyn Nail Lacquer - Full size
I always love getting new polishes in my beauty boxes. I got this in 'Petal Pink' This is a lovely shade of pink and I'm quite disappointed by how sheer it is.
Bourjois Cream Blush - Full size
I am not a fan of cream blushes, mainly because I can't seem to get them to blend well. I will try this out though after reading reviews about how blendable it is. It also supposedly changes from cream to powder too, so it's perfect all year round.

What do you think of Glamour's Latest in Beauty box?

Graduation!

On Thursday, the 17th July 2014, I, and along with several hundred other students of University of the Arts London, graduated at the Royal Festival Hall. I believed I would graduate, but never with the amazing grade I achieved. It was such an amazing, hot and sweaty day, filled with people from various media courses. I spotted several friends from other courses going up on stage too, which was such a joy to see that they too, are graduating this year.

It was such a busy day, and I wish I got to take more photos with everyone while I was still in my gown. But it was supposedly the hottest day of the year, and I just couldn't keep the gown on any longer. My make up was nearly sliding off of my face!

I felt like I was in Hogwarts, about to put on the sorting hat to decide which house I'd be in. It was such a lovely day, and I can't believe I considered not attending. I am so glad I did. After I graduated, I checked my phone to see that my family had been watching me graduate online! It was so nice to know that my university streamed the ceremonies for everyone who couldn't make it.

Beau and I walked along Southbank deciding where to eat, we didn't want a fancy place and we didn't know what we fancied, we just wanted some type of comforting family food. We both ended up getting fish and chips! We walked back towards the Royal Festival Hall and took the tube back to the train station, for our two hour journey home.

Congratulations to everyone graduating this year!

Nail Art #7 | Graduation Nails

These are the nails that I'll be wearing to graduation tomorrow. I didn't want anything complicated and I didn't want plain nails. My dress is black, with no patterns, so I couldn't match my nails to my dress because, well, they'd be plain black nails, and I didn't want to be wearing all black. So I opted for confetti style nails, because it's a celebration! A celebration of all that our course has achieved over the past three years. Congratulations to everyone graduating!

I used: Model's Own in Soda Pop Pink and Lilac Dream; Barry M in Blueberry and Sugar Apple; Calvin Klein in French Tip and Hint of Pink; Maybelline's Color Show in Electric Yellow. Sealed with Seche Vite's Dry Fast Top Coat.

A rainy day in summer

Tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich
An English summer is so unpredictable. Rainy days are not all that bad in the summer. Sure, the grass in your garden or the park will still be wet when the next day it's boiling hot, and you won't be able to laze about getting that gorgeous tan. But, this is a chance to enjoy a rainy day like it's winter all over again, only this time, it won't be freezing cold when you leave your bed.

Rainy days in the summer means you can enjoy bowls of soups and stews and those hearty dishes without the summer heat beaming down on you. It's also an excuse to stay in bed and watch Netflix while drinking endless cups of tea. And nobody is going to moan at you for staying in bed all day on a rainy day.

I like rainy days because it means I won't have to shave my legs because they're not out catching the rays, I won't have to worry about how sweaty i'll get when i'm running errands, and I won't have to worry about my make-up sliding off. It means I can wear the weirdest outfit under my coat and nobody will see it.

How do you spend your rainy summer days?

Nail Art #6 | Anniversary Nails

It was Beau and I's 2 year anniversary on Tuesday, and I really didn't want to spend forever drawing cute patterns. I wanted something simple, so I did pink heart tips, outlined with white to make them stand out more. I chose pink over red because pinks my favourite colour. This time I used Rimmel's Matte Finish top coat instead of my usual Seche Vite.
I actually took the polish off in the evening because the matte top coat didn't penetrate the layers to dry like Seche Vite does, so it was rubbing and denting. I probably should have used Seche Vite first, and then the matte topcoat, oh well. I used Model's Own Buff Pink as the base colour to hide any yellow-y looking nails, Sally Hansen French White tip for the outline and Essie's Pink About It for the hearts.

DIY: Clean your silver jewelry

It is coming up to my graduation, and my jewelry is in serious need of some TLC. I wear my jewelry everyday, and sometimes I can't be bothered to take them off when I'm having a shower. So naturally the silver loses its shine and some bits might turn brassy. All you need is:
  1. A small piece of foil
  2. Baking powder
  3. Hot, just boiled water. (You only need a small amount, so to be energy efficient and use the rest for a hot drink)
  4. A container (A ramekin, a tiny bowl, a lunch box)
Get your dish and line it with foil. Gather all your shiny sterling silver jewelry, and sprinkle over baking powder, using enough to cover it. Then get your hot water and pour it over the baking powder. You'll notice the powder starts to bubble and froth. Your jewelry should be super shiny once the baking powder stops frothing. Be careful not to burn your fingers when you pour out the water, and be careful not to lose your jewelry down the sink! Rinse it with cold water and pat dry.

If your jewelry is turning brassy-looking in some places, you'll need to get a silver cleaning cloth and rub it away. You can buy these from eBay for really cheap!

Nail Art #5 | Sheer Dotty Nails

I've seen this look a few times before on Instagram, so I decided to do it myself! I made my own sheer polish using Model's Own Black Magic and NYC's Grand Central Station. I used a dotting tool for the dots, and used a nail striper to outline the nails. As usual I used Nicole by OPI's Strengthener Plus as the base coat, and Seche Vite for the top coat.
