May Favorites!

Make-up
Maybelline Colossal Go Extreme Mascara
Aaaaaaamazing! Such a good product, I can't even.. just read my review here. So good. 10/10 would recommend over other mascaras.

Hair
Aussie Miracle Shine Shampoo
My hair and scalp have been a bit dry lately, so I switched shampoos and used the Aussie Miracle Shine shampoo to restore some kind of moisture to my hair. I know I wrote that it had made my hair greasy after a day of washing it, but I think it was because my hair didn't need that much moisture. So when my scalp became dry and flaky, this shampoo restored all the balance it needed! I will probably alternate this shampoo with other ones that I have.

Film
Bad Neighbours & Godzilla
Easily the best films that came out this month, although my boyfriend thinks that Godzilla sucked, I liked it! Bad Neighbours made me laugh so much, such a hilarious film with great actors. I really hope it ends up on Netflix so I can watch it again and again.

Snacks
Cheese puffs, white chocolate Lion bars, double stuffed Oreos
Oh my. I've gone through three packets of Oreos in two weeks. I can shovel a giant bag of cheese puffs in one sitting. The white chocolate Lion bar? Heaven. I love sitting down with a glass of milk, dunking the Oreos in. I never really buy Oreos, but these double stuffed ones are just perfect.

Smell
Our Own Candle Company - Blueberry Pie
This smells so good, literally like blueberry muffins, and even when i've blown out the flame, the smell still lingers for hours. Even if I haven't lit the candle in a few days, the blueberry scent is still in my room. The strawberries and cream candle doesn't smell as good as I had hoped, maybe when it hits the cream part of the candle it'll smell like cake.

This month's purchases - May!

I am trying not to spend so much now that i've finished university and am pretty much not doing anything since  These were some of the major purchases that I made this month. I always have to have a reason when buying certain things: I told myself not to buy anymore nail polishes, but hey these are essentials right? I've been after these Nikes for ages and they were sold out when I wanted them! My nails are really weak and my hair isn't growing, I definitely need these tablets. I want my room to smell nice.

Nike x Liberty Air Max 90
I originally bought these from the Offspring website  when they were priced at £125, but the next day I checked to see whether they had sold out, I saw that the price went down to £95, so I returned them and I ordered them from Office instead with 10% student discount (Offspring had a one style per customer rule). I've never owned a pair of Air Max 90s before. These were slightly less bouncy than the Air Max 1s that I own, but still very comfy.

Nail care and polishes
Essie - Pink About It
This is a really nice Barbie pink, with a little bit of pink glitter. The shimmery glitter isn't very noticeable but I'm not bothered by that. Plus it's pink, I love pink.
OPI Nicole by OPI - Nail Strengthener Plus
I love OPI's Nail Envy and I'm half way through the bottle, so I'm trying out this formula when I've ran out. You can never have enough nail strengthening polishes.
Sally Hansen - Insta Grip Fast Dry Base Coat
Can never have enough base coats.
NYC Nail Polish Quick Dry - Grand Central Station
Clear polishes are great for ombres and creating sheer tints!
Sally Hansen - French Manicure Kit
Not sure why I bought this....! Oh well.
Sally Hansen - Nail Growth Miracle Serum
My right hand's nails are chipping and splitting, even when I've applied nail care polishes that promise to help stop the splitting... Hopefully this will help my nails grow faster after cutting them down.

Vitabiotic Pregnacare 90 Tablets*
I bought these because my nails are just total rubbish right now and my hair is growing really slowly. I want my hair to be thicker and longer in time for my graduation, so hopefully these tablets will help. I actually found the tablets to be cheaper on Amazon than in Boots!

Our Own Candle Company - Blueberry Pie and Strawberries and Cream
Mmm, I love the smell of these candles! I prefer the blueberry pie candle to the strawberries and cream. They're £9.99, but with 100 hours of burn time and such an amazing long lasting smell, it's so worth it. That's what I'd like to think anyway.

Hey recent and soon to be graduates...

It's okay...

that you haven't done anything since leaving university
that you haven't applied to any internships or jobs
that you don't want to find a job right away
that you've got a horrible anxious feeling about having to pay back all of that student loan
that you're thinking of switching career paths
that you haven't got your whole life plan figured out yet
that you've spent all day watching things on Netflix that you've already seen before
that you wake up later and later every day since the last day of university
that you're enjoying having all of this free time
that you started a blog because you're not sure what to do next (because of point 2)
that you're really sad that your student card will expire soon and you'll have to pay full price again

Getting the perfect hair, skin and nails: week 1

I recently purchased a pack of 90 Perfectil tablets, as well as some nail care products. I am hoping that when my graduation comes round, (July 17th) my hair will be super long again, and my nails will be strong and healthy. I am going to keep eating the same food as I always have done, maybe chuck in an egg a day for extra protein.
Perfectil tablets are designed to help maintain and nourish great looking skin, hair & nails, all in one tablet to be taken once a day after a main meal. The Sally Hansen Miracle Serum is supposed to smooth cuticles and promote nail growth. OPI Nicole by O.P.I Strengthener Plus is also designed to promote nail growth.

There aren't any problems with my hair, I just want it to be thicker and longer. I am currently trying out L'Oreal's Fibrology shampoo, but I haven't noticed any major changes. I'm also using both Percy and Reed's TLC Hydrating mask and Argan Oil's hair mask once or twice a week. This is the current length of my hair:

As I paint my nails quite frequently, they have suffered from the acetone polish remover I had been using, I've switched removers for one that is acetone free. My right hand nails are constantly splitting from working in retail, and I have neglected them a lot:

I have currently taken the tablets for one week and used the nail growth serum as well as OPI's nail strengthener, and I've noticed a difference to how strong my nails have become. I know the tablets are also supposed to help my skin, but I'm not sure what to expect... I will update each week with new posts to let you guys know about any changes!

Sleek face form palette

I've been looking for a contour palette for awhile now, and I had my eyes set on the Sleek contour palette but I couldn't find it in Superdrug or Boots, so I got the face form palette instead, which has a blush added, unlike the contour palette which only has the contour powder and highlighter. I am so happy that I did. The palette costs £9.99, which is cheap for three products!
The packaging is very sleek

The shade of the blush is like a dupe of NARS' Orgasm blush: rose-gold and very very pretty. I am not too fond of the highlighter as sometimes it can make my skin look too shiny when I'm all about the matte look.
This is just one swipe across the palette onto my wrist. As you can see, the contour is the most pigmented compared to the highlighter and blusher. They blend really well and it's easy to buff the contour shade onto your skin.

Here I am using the blush and contour, I did not want to go full Kim Kardashian-contour, instead I wanted something a bit more subtle for work.

It's World Baking Day!

I usually always bake on Sunday, and this Sunday happens to be World Baking Day. Today I baked for my family. My mom bought me some bundt cake tins so I put them to use and made a pandan chiffon cake, one of our favourite cakes. A chiffon cake is a very light textured cake, with hardly any crumbs. Pandan is a tropical plant found in Asia, and the flavour and smell is very similar to coconut. I made a coconut buttercream for the filling too. The filling really brings the cake together!

Today I...

I had a very rubbish night of sleep, waking up around 3ish, checking Instagram because I was wide-awake, and my sister messages me telling me to go to sleep. She must have been checking Instagram too to see that I was awake and liking things! (She lives in Australia) Anyway, I had to be at work for 11am so I tried my best to fall back to sleep but it wasn't working well.

I woke up to blue skies and hardly any clouds and I just knew it'd be super sunny. Unfortunately I'd be spending most of the day at work...This is what I chose to wear to work:

When I finally finished, there was a box of nail polishes that I had ordered, so I quickly painted my nails in Essie's Pink About it & ate an ice cream in the remainder of the sun.

I helped make dinner, which was purple mash potatoes, sausages, carrots and peas. I am now patiently waiting for Britain's Got Talent after watching the last half of the FA Cup Final.

So even though I didn't get to laze about in the sun like everybody else, I still managed to go outside and enjoy some sunshine. Next week it's supposed to be all rain and no sunshine!

Maybelline The Collosal Go Extreme Mascara review

This mascara is my new favourite mascara in the whole wide world. I've been using Mac's Opulash mascara which is very good but way too expensive for a mascara (I got it as a gift!) I got the Go Extreme mascara while it was on offer at Superdrug, I also got the waterproof version but I haven't tested that one out yet.
Maybelline The Collosal Go Extreme, £6.99

This mascara wand is a bit different, they claim "Our first double curved stem is designed to deposit an extra shot of volume onto the supersized brush." I don't know whether that can be proved or not, but this is what the wand looks like:

I have very straight, short eye lashes, and normally if I have time I would curl my eyelashes before using mascara, however, with this Go Extreme mascara I didn't need to.
I'll let the pictures do the talking:

Look at that! One coat of Go Extreme mascara lifted my eyelashes and gave them so much volume without using eyelash curlers!
I do have some problems with this mascara:
  1. Sometimes the massive brush hits my eyelid, but it's nothing a cotton bud can't fix.
  2. Sometimes the mascara can transfer onto my skin if i'm having a horrible oily skin day.
Overall, I would definitely purchase this mascara again, I have always been a fan of Maybelline's mascaras and they only seem to get better.

I love Sundays!

Sundays are made for reading magazines, painting nails, baking sweet treats and dog cuddles.
I bought the latest issues of Glamour, Cosmopolitan & Company magazine mainly because they're the June issue, which is my birthday month! And because I didn't buy any magazines last month... I love the summer editions of magazines.

I've been craving these ever since my trip to Malaysia last September, where I had them everyday at breakfast. I haven't bought any since, as they're quite pricey for what they are. So I found a recipe and made them myself. I didn't have the proper tart cases so I used a bun tin instead. My mom thought the pastry was a bit too thick and I think I might try using ready-made puff pastry instead.

I love my little Freddie so much! While watching Sunday Brunch he sat next to me, so I 'trapped' him with my legs. He loves his belly rubs.

What are you doing this Sunday?

I finished my dissertation!

Hello everyone! I'm back! I am so done with university. I have been working on my dissertation and juggling my job, so a lot of things have been put on hold. Anyway, after I handed in my dissertation, Beau and I walked along the Thames, doing some sightseeing stuff, even though we've already seen the sights before. It was a really nice sunny day despite being stuck behind a lot of tourists.

Walking along the Thames towards Southbank, we went towards E4's Udderbelly site where we were greeted with a giant purple cow:

Strolling past the London Eye, we took a quick trip to Namco's arcade centre. We didn't play any games but I did get a fortune by Zultar:
It was a nice fortune to get especially after handing in my dissertation.
Along the walk to Covent Garden we got stopped for a free sample of frozen yogurt by Snog, but by sample, it was literally a McDonald's sized paper sauce pot. I felt a bit pressured to buy one, being naive and not realising the free sample I was given was the tiny pot. Anyway, it was nice, and I guess, a treat to myself for finishing university. I got the passion fruit frozen yogurt with mango pieces.

We headed towards Covent Garden to have a look at the markets, and then headed to Wahaca's for our dinner:

I ordered the chicken tinga burrito, and Beau had the pulled pork burrito. We halved our burritos and swapped with each other. The burritos were so nice! It had the perfect amount of filling and wasn't dry or too spicy.

I really do miss living in London, but I am much happier back in Birmingham.
